Hubby and I have been following GE 2011 with great interest.

Perhaps social media has helped: there are new updates and new Youtube videos to be accessed almost every hour, it seems.

Most of my info is coming through FB newsfeeds of SDP and TR happenings.

There are three people I'm watching: Chen Show Mao of WP, Dr Vincent Wijeysingha of SDP and Nicole Seah of NSP.

I have also had a look at the SDP website and must say it is impressive. Clean lines, easy on the eye, very professional.

And have you seen the videos?

The one with Dr CSJ speaking in Hokkien has apparently gone viral and supporters are now being asked to download it to their phones to share with older friends and family who may not have access to the Internet. Cool.

This one - SDP Loves Singapore - which reminds me of an NDP commercial, is really innovative and enjoyable.

There seems to be a stirring of our nation's soul this elections. It has been a soul that has long been silenced out of fear. Fear never made a country strong, and we want our Singapore to be strong.

We hope Singaporeans make use of their birthright to vote wisely and courageously.

To paraphrase Chen Show Mao of WP, use your head and vote with courage.

Customer Service - as it should be

Tonight, I finally decided to do something about our overgrown backyard.

Hubby and I have talked about it forever - should we landscape? should we get rid of the grass and concrete over it? should we build a granny flat or subdivide? - but the $ issue has always loomed like a huge STOP sign that makes further discussion pointless.

What's your budget, is his standard question to me.

I cannot tell you why I finally acted, but I can tell you how I feel.

Good.

I filled in the contact form on the Natural Landscapes and Hire A Hubby sites.

Within minutes, I received an email from NL saying they had received my info and would contact me within 48 hours.

Grant from HH texted me to say he would call tomorrow to discuss my requirements.

Now that is what customer service should be.

As for budgetary issues, I am trusting that the $ we need will come at the right time. I don't know how or when or how much. I will just believe.

When you want something badly enough

Here's something for you to think about.

When you want something badly but feel held back because of one or more obstacles, what do you think might happen to your original goal?

For the past few days, I've been thinking about enrolling with The Coaching Institute to learn to be a certified life coach.

Obstacle #1: The fees. Just under $5k for Cert IV and just under $14k for the Diploma.

Obstacle #2: The timing. There are a couple of face-to-face weekends where you spend time interacting with your fellow future coaches and your instructors. There's no way I can make that work if I want to continue my jazz dance classes on Sat mornings.

I rocked up to class this morning and what do you know? The dance school is closing down. That's right. Due to work commitments (a promotion at work), the founder is no longer able to commit to Sat classes. And her co-teacher is going for ankle reconstruction surgery which will put her out of action for pretty much the rest of 2011.

So what do you know, obstacle #2 has just been serendipitously removed.

I'd love to hear what Napoleon Hill, Paul Scheele and other human development thinkers have to say about this new development.

Especially the coach from The Coaching Institute that I've set up a phone chat with this coming Mon at 11 am.

Because the way is now clear for me to pursue my life coaching certification.

All I need is $20k by 13 May. $20k will cover my tuition fee plus a buffer for school fees and other household expenses, and 13 May is a random date I've set my subconscious.

Well, maybe not so random. It's Cat's 40th and my cousin Sean's 30th.

And you know what?

God has SUCH a sense of humour.

When I realized that the dance school was closing down, the first thought I had was, "Oh wow! Now I can do my Dip in Life Coaching."

I was filled with such a sense of wonderment and awe.

But you know what was my next thought?

"Oh no! What will I do with the black jazz shoes I just ordered online??"

Life. You gotta love it.
