It's wonderful how a few mouse clicks can make you think you're back home. It's quite exciting to be tapping away on the notebook and halfway thru, you get a familiar "ring" that tells you someone's online and wants to chat. Am particularly pleased that my ACER Aspire's built-in mic can sustain a decent conversation without the need for a headset.
A couple of nights ago, we received a Skype call from our friends Cat & Sam. They actually installed their webcam as we were chatting, so we were able to see them in their bedroom at home. Unfortunately, we left ours in SG, so it'll have to be a one-way viewing for the time being.
Last night, I got a Skype call from my friend May. The sound quality was clear and it felt like a phone conversation back home. Kudos to the tech gurus who make these things possible!
Even without such calls, we've been able to chat with friends quite comfortably using Skype (again) & Windows Live Messenger (updated version of msn messenger?). The only thing is, I tend to run out of things to "say" quite quickly.

Hey if you guys need IT stuff like CDROMs, webcams, computer hardware etc etc, on Sundays at the local town halls there are usually Computer Meets. Kind of like a mini Sim Lim Square - mostly run by Asians (who else), and you can bargain/get your items cheaper than at Harvey Norman. Usually the very latest things can be found there as well.
Really happy you guys are finding your footing with few hiccups.
