And Baby's Name Is....

The last time we were on this subject, Beth voted in favour of Esther, and my preference was Elisabeth, either as the only or middle name.

Final decision as of this afternoon (as we were filling out the paperwork to include baby on our Medicare card as well as to register her birth)...

JORDANNE NING SHIN TAN

For a fee of up to $39, we get to choose how the BC will be printed. With pics of Oz flora or Oz fauna or a flower border or plain. No allowances for Chinese characters, unfortunately.

Jordanne is pronounced Jordan, which is significant in the Old and New Testaments. Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist in the Jordan, Joshua led the Israelites across the Jordan into the Promised Land after the death of Moses, and so on. If we'd had a boy, we'd have named him Jordan. We added the extra "ne" to feminize the name.

And I would have made it Jordanne Elisabeth, but was overruled. :p

Ning is for Peace (same as Beth's name). Shin (or Xin in Mandarin) is for Joy. So the girls are Ning Hsuen (Peace and Warmth) and Ning Shin.

Baby certainly lived up to her name yesterday when she beamed at me while I was talking to her eye-to-eye. So that's all good, as the Ozzies would say :)

We have dedicated Baby back to God, as we did with Beth, and our prayer is that she will bring peace and joy to all whose lives she touches.
