We brought Jordanne for her first church service! She was such a good baby, she slept through most of it, which enabled us to focus on what Pastor Paul was saying. At the end of the service, J woke up to ask for milk....followed by a major, very audible POOP. CA took over the diaper change to enable me to catch up with the ladies, and earned himself a compliment from one of the mummies present :-)
It's so nice to be back in church after a month! Had a great time greeting old friends during Shalom time. Everyone was so pleased to see us, and they came round to admire J asleep in her baby capsule. One of the nice old ladies (Hazel) came by with a multicoloured jacket she'd hand knitted for J. Another told me she'd seen our pic in the local paper. (The Werribee Banner has a weekly page featuring bubs born at Werribee Mercy Hospital that week.)
Pastor screened an excerpt from the movie The Chronicles of Narnia, and talked about Jesus as the Lion and the Lamb, reminding us that He is both strong and gentle. Strong enough to protect us, yet willing to offer Himself as a sacrifice on our behalf.
The kids were invited onstage and asked to mimic their favourite animal. The older ones imitated elephants and butterflies. Beth stood very still and stared at the other kids. We weren't sure if she was simply shy or didn't understand what she was supposed to do.
"Can anyone guess what Bethany is pretending to be?" asked Pastor.
"A ROCK!" hooted a voice from the congregation.
I just love the Ozzie humour. :-)
