Shared Joy is Joy Multiplied

On Tuesday, we had our first visitor, Beth's Sunday School teacher Tricia Cox. We've no idea how she knew I'd given birth since we hadn't gotten round to telling anyone from church. She sat with us, admired bub, gave her a lovely pink baby blanket, taught Beth that B-A-B-Y spells baby, and prayed a prayer of blessing for us.

This afternoon, we had a visit from our church friends back home, Celine & Tee Jiun and their little ones, Tania (7) and Josiah (5). They live in Burwood, one of the Eastern suburbs. I taught Josiah at Sunday School for a little while just before his family moved to Melbourne, so it was really lovely to see him again. The adults had a great time catching up (nothing like swopping postpartum pain stories to ensure quick bonding!) while the kids put together Beth's new Spidey jigsaw puzzle.

After they left, Karen and Kai Yin (who've moved to Brunswick West) came by with little Aidan. Another blessed time of fellowship and shared joy as they admired Bub and laughed over how little and light she is compared to Aidan, who's now 16 months old. Beth relished her role of Big Sis, following Aidan all over the place to see he didn't fall over or put his fingers in dangerous places (like the pedestal fan).

From Kai Yin, we learnt that if we plan to send Bub to a private school in the East, we should start thinking of enrolling her NOW. On the advice of a cousin, he put down a non-refundable admin fee to enrol Aidan in the private school of his and Karen's choice immediately after Aidan was born, and was thankful he did, because afterwards the school told him that had he waited another 6 months, they would have closed the waiting list - for the enrolment year 2009!

Sounds like home, don't you think? :)

Thank you Lord for the gift of friendship. And bless those who would willingly drive an hour each way just to say hello and to welcome a new bub into the world.
