The First Rainy School Day

It was bound to happen sometime.

CA has always said that if it rains, Beth can skip school. Thankfully, it was only a drizzle when we got ready for kinder this morning. Beth gleefully donned her Little Bobdog raincoat (which almost reached the floor) - a timely gift from Grandma which the postman delivered yesterday. I got out the pram protector (a plastic poncho shaped to fit snugly over the pram, with velco fasteners to keep the protector from blowing away) and my waterproof black coat.

On the walk home after dropping Beth off, I mused to myself how back home in Sg, a 20-minute walk in inclement weather might easily have led to grumbling, but a new environment and situation have somehow made even an inconvenience seem like a mini adventure.

The Pampered One of course begged to differ, and complained about the rain getting in her eyes, to which I replied that she should just pull down the hood of her raincoat a bit more. (On other days, she grumbles about the sun in her eyes, and I tell her it's her fault if she doesn't want to put on her shades or her sun hat.)

Baby J slept through all the drama. :-)

We're home and dry now! I introduced Baby J to Mendelssohn's Fingal's Cave Overture, although I must say I prefer the original CD recording to the tinny sound of the MIDI version on the ClassicalArchives.com website. Baby J has no preference either way.

Next: Chopin's Etude in C, Op. 10 No.1. Why does that sound so familiar? Horrors! It's the piece my piano teacher selected for my LTCL exams. No wonder I failed. Why didn't anyone tell me the best way to learn a piece is by listening to a recording by a virtuoso??
