Jordanne's 2-month checkup

Our Maternal and Child Health Nurse - Chris - reported today that Baby J is now 5.85 kg - she's put on 0.8 kg since her last visit. Height, weight, neck control, head circumference are all good. On the whole, she reckons Baby J is a big baby and has the vital stats of a 3-month old. She recommends that I try to keep her solely on breastmilk till she's 6 months old since she's doing so well.

Baby J is looking a bit yellow, which Chris attributes to "breastmilk jaundice" - nothing to worry about. When I mentioned her tendency to develop rashes on her cheeks, she said Baby J may be more prone to eczema (pronounced AX-mer here) - that would be from me. :p

Recently, Baby J has been insisting on being cuddled to sleep. If you put her down when she's half asleep, you get just about 5 minutes of peace before she wakes and starts to howl, looking like this!
So Chris suggested I try swaddling her and letting her fall asleep by herself. Apparently, until baby is about 4 months old, her Moro reflex will cause her to awaken with a start at the slightest noise and swaddling helps to reassure her and keep her asleep.
Tried her method this afternoon and it seems to work. Whew.

Baby J is due for her first round of immunizations this month.
