Weerama Festival 07

Here's what we got up to last weekend.

This was taken on Sun morning while waiting for the street parade to start. We're wearing our specially commissioned HXUCA Let The Rhythm of God Flow Within T-shirts.

Here's the Werribee Concert Band getting ready.

The conductor is this guy whose height (more than 6 feet I reckon) and hairdo (a long plait halfway down the back) make him perfect for the role.

Here's Tom, our resident volunteer firefighter (retired). He organized the decommissioned fire truck and took delighted visitors up and down Derrimut Rd. We had the wind roaring in our faces and had great fun waving at other motorists and sounding the bell like we were rushing to a fire. No one stopped to let us pass tho'. As Tom says, people have no respect for authority, none at all! ;-)

The kids (and some adults too) had their faces painted by Caryn's daughter and lover-of-kids Emma, who was doing this for the first time! Beth chose to let her fierce (true) side show.

Janey from Hoppers Crossing joined us. She's from the Philippines and has lived here for 12 years!

And the Best Float Award for Weerama 2007 goes to....Hoppers Crossing Uniting Church - yeah!
