How To Wash Dishes The Aussie Way

When we first heard how locals do dishwashing, we reckoned it was a one-off. You know, that maybe that's just how X or Y likes to do it.

But over 12 months, we've seen the same technique employed in different settings: homes, church....and we've now concluded this is how the average Aussie washes dishes.

  1. Fill a basin with hot soapy water.
  2. Fill a second basin with cold clean water.
  3. Toss dirty dishes in first basin.
  4. Scrub off sauces and sticky bits with dish brush (a gadget we only recently acquired ourselves).
  5. Dip soapy dishes in second basin. Swirl around a little bit. Important: NO RINSING REQUIRED.
  6. Take dishes out. Dry with tea towel and return to cabinet.
Chores are a breeze when you keep things simple.
