Uniform Observations

Very grateful for warmth/empathy/support shown by some of the mums in Beth's class.

One after another, they (some with whom I have had only the briefest of conversations) have come up to say how sorry they are to hear Beth won't be at HCC next year.

The most recent one was my reading partner, whom I purposely delayed telling, preferring to let her find out through the grapevine. I mean, how do you open your mouth and say "And by the way, we won't be at HCC next year" right?

She says if we ever change our minds and want to reapply back to HCC and there are any difficulties, she will start a petition "because Beth is a good girl and a good student".

I know she said it half in jest but isn't that sweet? Told her I can quite imagine her doing it and she laughingly agreed that she's got the advocacy streak going strong in her.

Have observed a really fascinating change in me from the time the possibility of moving to GNLC became real. I - like Beth - have moved from emotional/teary at the mere mention of moving out of HCC to neutral and accepting and maybe even a little excited at the prospect of a new beginning.

This week, the girls will be getting their new uniforms fitted at Rushfords in Werribee. Another visual reminder of the new reality. Will be interesting to see how they respond, especially Beth who has come so far in the journey to embrace uncertainty with grace.
