My First Workshop for 2012

I can now say I have experienced what it is to run a workshop.

Yesterday, I delivered Part 1 of 3 of my Empowered Women series at Tarneit CLC.

5 ladies came: one friend, one school mum whose son is in Miss J's class, and three ladies from church.

One friend was sick. Two school mums had sick kids to attend to. A lady who enquired by phone didn't show.

All in, a pretty good number to start with for a workshop nobody's ever heard of.

Deliberately kept it simple as I wanted to focus on content, not fuss with Powerpoint slides. I did hand out slide screenshots and use a whiteboard, but mostly it was me talking, asking questions, and the participants sharing their take on life.

Next term, Tarneit CLC is offering me the use of Community Room 2 which is connected to the kitchen so we can make our own tea and coffee. A cuppa mid-session is definitely the way to go. Not many people I know can sit still for 2 hours. In fact, I was tickled to notice a couple of yawns yesterday...something I've been guilty of myself as a seminar attendee.
