Do write and tell us! :-)
On our end, Christmas promises to be hot hot hot! It is after all summertime, when the temp can hit as high as 40 deg, and when sandflies are a real bother.
A coupla days ago, we were talking about how to decorate the house for Christmas. Me and my big belly aren't feeling too festive, but Beth's enthusiasm for craft projects (fuelled by the books she borrows from the library) was contagious enough to stir Daddy to buy coloured crepe paper and gold curling ribbon. In a matter of hours, there were scalloped bi-coloured crepe twists looped across the ceilings of the lounge and dining area, and a bunch of twirly gold ribbon hanging over the dining table. Very pretty.
Next Sat, we will be hosting an early Christmas dinner with the works: turkey (not a whole one, just a roll), ham (as of last night, we acquired another 3 kg ham, courtesy of Hui Mei's office party), salad, roast potato...and ripe juicy mango for dessert. Yay. Our VVIPs will be my folks, Aunt Doris' son Zhao En, who lives at the other end of VIC in Box Hill, his pal Leonard, and - we just learnt an hour ago - HM's housemate Alice. Beth is so thrilled that ZE is joining us. She has already decided that Z will sit next to her at dinner. :-)
In honour of the occasion, we got a snowflake-patterned tablecloth for the main dining table. And a plastic picnic bench from Bunnings ($29.98 - what a price pleaser!) to seat our guests. It's the kind you can fold up and carry in a case, and will be perfect for outdoor picnics in summer.
