Baby J went for her milestone checkup yesterday.
Weight: 7.12 kg. She has practically doubled her birth weight! CA says it's no wonder he can't carry her with one arm like he used to with Beth. :-)
Height: 65 cm.
Nurse Chris and I discussed J's appetite, sleep pattern, poop pattern (she does a real stinker once a week, around Tue or Wed), her ability to grasp objects/make conversation/blow bubbles, her flat head, and her habit of pulling off halfway through a feed to look around or to stare at me.
Just the usual mundane observations that are of immense fascination only to parents.
Outcome: all's good. Will be taking Baby J for her 2nd round of jabs sometime this month.
I mentioned Beth's recent reluctance to go to school. Chris said it's quite normal for kids of her age to go through a phase when they may find school boring, especially if they get a lot of adult interaction with parents. She suggests I make an appointment to see Beth's teacher to discuss if she may have other issues at school. She assured me that parents know their children best. Her own girls went through a period where they refused to go to kinder, saying it was boring, and she decided not to force the issue and kept them home for 6 weeks, at the end of which their aversion to kinder wore off on its own. Evidently, this blip in their academic record didn't affect them too adversely, as one is now a doctor.
On my way out, Chris gave me a poisons info fridge magnet and recommended me the following websites:
