Another One Bites The Dust

Same street.
Same excited anticipation.
Same outcome.

The house we were supposed to see on Sat morning? We got a call from the agent an hour before our appointment for viewing (and this was an appointment, not an open inspection): "Sorry, the house was sold yesterday."

Sat was another day of back-to-back activity. CA always says weekends are more tiring than weekdays because we try to pack so much in!
While CA drove Beth to her friend's birthday party (thankfully taking J with him), I went to see a doc for my eczema outbreak. Was feeling pleased with myself when the appointment took much less time than expected....until I tried to text and call CA on my mobile and couldn't get any reception! This went on for 2 hours until it was practically time for our next appointment, which was 1 hour away in Burwood.

Asked the Vietnamese bakery owner for help. She said Werribee's like that (poor mobile reception) and I should try moving around to find a possible pocket where the reception was better.

Asked librarian at Werribee CBD Library for help. He couldn't lend me his mobile because mobiles can't be used in the library.

Tried payphone but it wouldn't accept coins and I didn't have a Telstra phone card.

Was finally saved by the nice lady at the Visitor Info Centre who said, "We can't have you walking up and down the street" - and lent me her cordless phone.

After dash to Burwood to visit with friends from our home church in Sg, we got back to Hoppers Crossing in time for our 5 pm appointment with an agent...to find no agent at the property. Turned out she'd left several messages on my mobile but I hadn't responded. Managed to reach her and drove on to another property to meet her.

By this time, it was dark and we didn't get a good look at the outside of the property. What we did gather was that the lot size is exceptionally huge, making the asking price quite reasonable. At a conservative $100K for a 400 sq m parcel of land, we could effectively be paying under $50K for just the house. And a very liveable house it is too, if one doesn't mind the slightly dodgy carpets in the bedroom, the presence of 2 cats and the amount of care required for the huge garden and yard. In fact, when we first stepped into the house, we felt like we were walking into a holiday home. You know, the cosy log cabin with a fireplace with real wood burning...

We're having another look tomorrow. This time, by day.
