Life, The Universe and Everything

Ever wondered...
  • How the universe came into existence?
  • How Man came into existence?
  • Does science disprove the Bible?
  • Could the Bible's history, like the account of Noah's Flood, be true?
  • Could dinosaurs have lived at the same time as us?
  • Could the earth really have been made in 6 ordinary days?

CA and I just attended the first of 13 sessions by Answers Academy, a ministry which focuses on providing answers to questions surrounding the Book of Genesis, the first book of the Bible which contains the story of Creation.

Each session comprises a video presentation, discussion questions and research/homework as suggested by the facilitator.

Tonight's presentation has already caused a slight mental shift in us, making us question some of our assumptions and beliefs. (E.g. if we all have access to the same evidence such as fossils, how is it that we arrive at different conclusions about what the evidence means?) And I'm pretty sure we'll be looking at things a whole new way by the end of the 13 weeks.

It's the sort of thing you might have done at university: debating the hot topic of the day over teh si and a chicken sandwich between lectures. Then career and marriage and children come along, and such leisurely, earnest discussions become an indulgence instead of the necessary intellectual exercise that they are.

For that, I'm glad we have this God-given opportunity to sit down with other intellectually curious seekers (not all are Christians) to open our minds, admit our prejudices and preconceptions, and question/challenge what is being presented to us for consideration.

Will it cause a dramatic conversion in our way of thinking?

Will there be life-changing consequences?

We can't wait to find out.
