Now we're halfway through what everyone agrees is the coldest Melburnian winter ever, I thought of writing to say we're coping pretty well, but I've changed my mind.
This morning's walk to kinder and the return trip brought tears to the eyes (if you forgot your sunnies). It's been the sort of day where the pram rolls forward by itself - on level ground. The sort of day where, with the wind at your back, you feel pushed to tiptoe forward quickly. Where one entertains Mary Poppins fantasies of floating up to the sky - pram, baby and all.
But the human memory is short, and physical discomforts are soon forgotten when the sun comes out. Ah, the sun! It's a marvellous thing to see and feel sunshine. Even Scottie is pleased; just watch him stretching out by the back door, nose on his paws, making the most of the warmth, the hint of a pleased smile on his furry face.
