J's 28-week checkup

Time again for the needle...

J had her bimonthly visit to the Maternal and Child Health Nurse yesterday. Chris was mildly surprised to note that J's height and weight increases have slowed down from the sharp spikes of the previous months.

J weighs 7.41 kg, a gain of 290g since her last checkup. She has morphed from a "big" to an "average" baby.

Was sharing with Chris about J's frequent crying spells and shorter sleep times, and she said it could be anything, we can only guess. Separation anxiety. Growth spurt. Being more aware of her surroundings, which makes her a lighter sleeper.

Am definitely noticing signs of separation anxiety. When I place J on her playmat and carry on with my work in full view of her, she's quite happy to play on her own. If I walk away to another section of the house out of her line of sight, a cry of distress almost always follows. When she sees me, even if Daddy is carrying her, she starts crawling to me as fast as her little hands and knees can manage, then she reaches out her arms and tries to climb me as if I were a tree.

This clinginess is adorable, but very exhausting and trying, especially when there are a dozen other things to do during the day.
