新年快乐,万事如意!

A blessed, abundant and healthy Lunar New Year to our friends and family wherever you may be!

CNY has been practically a non-event here. This time last year, I was in confinement and adjusting to life with a new baby. CNY was the last thing on my mind.

This year, Beth started school on 4th Feb, so the excitement of getting the whole family out of the house on time each morning has been our main preoccupation.

That, and me taking over as the family chauffeur.

I am quite pleased that so far, I've managed to get from home to
  • school,
  • shops,
  • VicRoads (the LTA equivalent),
  • the hairdresser's,
  • and Hoppers Crossing train station - in peak hour conditions and without major incident.

"Major" excludes a hairy moment in the church carpark last night. After band practice, which ended really late, I made the double error of trying to be first out of the compound, and not asking for help to exit safely.

I don't even know which car it was that reversed into mine as I was also trying to reverse. Am thankful that Paul and Mark came to the rescue, standing by my window and shouting encouraging things to help me on my way, and that no one was injured.

Was too shaken to find out more. All will be made clearer on Sunday morning.

Lesson learnt: Do not drive at night!

I know how laughable this must sound, especially to those of you who're half my age and have been driving longer than I have. But that's alright. I admit I was always a bit of a late bloomer. Better late than never, eh?
