Today's Beth's 5th day at school already.
Incredible.
She's had a very gentle transition. 2 afternoon sessions, then 8.30-12.00 for the past 3 days.
Next week, it's 8.30-12.30, and they will have lunch in school.
The week after, it's 8.30-1.45, with lunch and playtime included.
From Week 4, they'll go the whole way, i.e. 8.30-3.10.
On the first day, some mums got a bit "sooky". My girlfriend confessed she walked out of her son's classroom "quickly...in tears".
Proud dads whipped out videocams and mobiles to capture images of their darlings, all grown up-looking in sun hats and uniforms (red polos and grey shorts for boys, blue checked dresses for girls) and struggling under regulation backpacks that look as big as they are.
