We sometimes hear our teenage pals go "Cool as" or "Good as" in conversation.
Our standard reaction (usually unspoken) used to be "Cool as what?" or "Good as what?"
We have now learnt that there is no answer.
The Aussie way of speaking is to use "Cool as" as though it were "Cool".
For instance, "That music is cool as."
Full stop.
And it's not just teens (who like to label everyone and everything "random") who speak that way.
Driving to Frankston today for a day trip, I spied this highway billboard for a brand of heater that promises to keep you "warm as".
Looks like the editors of the Aussie Slang Dictionary and Koala Net could do with a new entry.
That would be cool as.
