When Moms Get Together

Was chatting with a couple of moms at the playground after waving Beth off.

As is sometimes the case when moms get together, there will be an opportunity to compare notes, swap info, or arrange for a play date or makan session.

Cass, whose son attends Yamaha class with Beth on Sat, shared about how music has helped her children develop the ability to sit still, to do one thing after another in the required sequence, and even to identify appropriate chords and play by ear.

If I hadn't already enrolled Beth, I would've been sold on Yamaha, just by Cass' enthusiasm and the detailed examples she gave of changed behaviour in her children. What an inspiring testimonial for Yamaha and for music.

Having watched the DVD countless times with the kids, I can attest that it's a fantastic resource. Even J loves it, and can now say "doh-doh-doh". She calls the video "Ah Ah Ah-choo!" after the sneezing whales in one of the songs. :)

Just last night, Beth showed us that she knows her do-re-mi-fa-so.

When I randomly called out "do-me-so", she was able to use the right finger sequence. She also knows how to find the notes on the keyboard.

I am eagerly waiting for Term 3 to watch Beth take off musically, as her teacher predicts most kids in the course will do.
