See You At the Pole

On 22 May, Heathdale Christian College ran "See You At The Pole" (SY@TP), where high school students gather at the flagpole to pray for the school.

The event was open to all students. It was scheduled to begin at 7.10 am, and breakfast would be served after.

When I went to pick Beth up from school one day, she pointed me to the SY@TP notice on the window of a Prep classroom, and told me she wanted to attend.

We stressed to Beth that taking part in SY@TP meant she would have to rise and shine earlier than usual. A real challenge in her case because she is very "mo" and takes a long time to get ready in the mornings.

Beth must have really been convicted in her heart, because on the day, she was able to wake early without complaining, and reached school at the appointed time. CA stayed with her to see what the event was about.

Here's a student account of the event.

Apparently, Beth was the only Preppie who turned up!

She didn't know anyone else there; they were all senior students. One of the prefects approached her and made friends, which was really nice. I imagine Beth would have felt a bit out of place and overwhelmed if not for that act of kindness.

She certainly enjoyed brekkie. They had porridge - Aussie-style - with oatmeal, milk and honey. There was also sultana toast, pancakes with jam and maple syrup, and orange juice.
Mmm....
