Footy Mad

Beth switches club allegiance every other week.

When her footy fever started, it was Sydney Swans - because her teacher is a Swans supporter.

Then there was talk of Geelong Cats, Melbourne Demons (but demons aren't animals what!) and Collingwood Magpies.

She comes home with updates on who's at the top of the AFL table. Her classroom's got an AFL chart that is constantly updated.

Recently, I announced that I was going to support the Western Bulldogs, because we live in the (much maligned) West and I'd read about the good community work the Bulldogs do.

Now she's singing the Bulldogs club song.

Like many footy club songs, it's full of swagger and threats.

Sons of the West
Red white and blue
We come out snarling
Bulldogs through and through
Bulldogs bite and Bulldogs roar
We give our very best
But you can't beat the boys of the Bulldog creed
We're the team of the mighty West!

This week, she borrowed a footy-themed reader from the school library.
