I hit a snag in my understanding of Aussie English recently.
We were invited to a friend's place and the invite said "BYO drinks, snags, deck chairs".
I thought "snag" was an Aussie way of spelling "snacks".
When I looked up my Macquarie Australian English Dictionary, I found this entry right between the conventional defintion (short projecting stump) and the modern SNAG -
snag: Australian, NZ Colloquial a sausage
There's always something new to learn.
