The 30-hour madness

This is a super 'siong' week.

I'm trying to reach the 30-hour max for voluntary service at Beth's school. My time sheet says I've just six hours to go. So I'm going all out this week to make sure we qualify to have $300 taken off the school fees before the end-Nov deadline.

This morning, I did reading with Prep A, because I found out that the mom who does the reading there is usually on her own. It worked out really well. I made a new friend, the mom in question was happy to have a helper, I got to know some great kids, and all but three students were read to. My partner says that's a really good result cos she normally only has time to swop the books but not read to the kids.

One down, five to go.

At 12, I have to return to school to do lunchtime Yard Duty. I read in the newsletter that they were short of YD helpers, so I volunteered. I'm rostered for every alternate Thursday, so that's another three hours.

I haven't told Beth I'm on duty. Thought I would surprise her. :) She loves it when I help out at school.

The mom who helps at swimming classes has asked if I can cover her duty tomorrow as she has to attend a funeral. If I say yes, that'll be another hour to my credit.

Which means... I'll hit 30 hours by next week, yay!
