I haven't been to the salon for 2 months and am in dire need of a makeover. While researching hair salons in Sg, I came across this helpful post.
The reason I've been KIVing going to the hairdresser is because I haven't been able to find a stylist who can 'get' my hair. No matter how I explain what I want, it always comes out looking anything but. Which is fine if you like the end result, but not if you don't.
A visit to the hairdresser here is nothing like the pampering experience I used to treat myself to at Reds Bugis Junction. (This was in the days when I was gainfully employed and my favourite stylist (Michelle) worked there.)
Here, they just cut your hair, blow it and send you on your way. No rinsing. No shampooing. No tissue to wipe off the stray hairs from your face. Definitely no coffee/tea and a spread of the latest mags.
And you're lucky if you can get a haircut for less than $20.
Back to the blog post. It listed two hair salon websites so I visited those.
Hmm, Kimage Hairdressing School or Reds?
Kimage is definitely wallet-friendly. $6 for shampoo and cut? Even QB House was charging $10 when I left Sg.
At Reds, you are always guaranteed of a certain level of customer service.
Of course, all that pampering and pleasant chitchat come at a price.
I see from the list of stylists that the charming Michelle is now a Director at the Central outlet (now rebranded Jeric Salon) @ Clarke Quay. Wah, Director...
The only reason I would visit JS is to say hi to Michelle, and to see what CQ looks like now.
Unfortunately, her newly elevated status means she now charges upwards of $50 for a ladies' cut. (Gulp.)
Which should I risk, my face or my wallet? Decisions decisions...
