The girls are enjoying their first week at the new school.
You know how it is. As a parent, you want your kids to be happy, to have friends, to love the learning journey. But you have really very little control over whether they do.
So I am very grateful to God for how He has blessed our family beyond our imagination.
On the first day at school, our very blur-looking and slightly dazed Preppie was approached by a gorgeous blond Grade One girl, who promptly introduced herself to us and asked if Miss J would like to play.
So Miss J acquired her first friend.
By the end of Day One, Miss B had discovered that her classmate and new best friend T is the sister of Miss J's other new bestie J. How serendipitous! Only God can arrange life thus.
The synthetic turf that connects the Prep and 1/2 classes has become a convenient meeting spot for dropping off and picking up the girls, and for chatting with other mums.
I have now met and spoken with a number of them - Prep mums, mums with 2 or more children at the school, mums who are new to the school like me. Each conversation is a comfort zone expansion exercise that continues to bear fruit. It's a great way to practise my rapport building skills and to give someone the gift of being totally present when they speak.
Can't wait to deepen and broaden the connections and to start contributing to the school community.
