CA and I helped out at kinder on Tuesday. (Parents are encouraged to help out because there's just 1 teacher + 1 assistant to 25 students.) Mainly, we wanted to find out how Beth is doing and whether her recent complaints about kinder being "boring" have any basis.
We were relieved to find that she - and most of the kids - have a lot of fun and exercise in the playround, and when they're indoors, there's heaps of things to do. Painting. Colouring and cutting and pasting. Home corner. Building blocks. Puzzles. Story time. Singing songs about tree-speckled frogs. Learning to wait for everyone to be ready before they tuck into their snacks. Learning to sit still and keep quiet.
PPS.
Mirella asked, "Who knows what a vet is?"
Beth raised her hand eagerly.
"A vet that (sic) makes animals better."
"That's right, an animal doctor! You have an aunt who's a vet, don't you, Bethany?"
Beth nodded and looked round at us with that half-shy, half-proud smile.
