'Pet Sunday' will be held at Saint Thomas Anglican Church, Werribee, this Sunday at 10.30.
People are encouraged to bring their pets into church to be blessed, which happens during the normal morning family service.
People are encouraged to approach the communion rails, where Father Max administers the sacrament of Holy Communion and blesses the pets brought forward. In past years, a wide range of pets have been brought along in cages or on leads, where appropriate.
These have included dogs, cats, birds, frogs, rats and fish. This year, the Macedon group, Wild Action Nature Reserve, will be bringing a variety of wildlife, including pythons and even a crocodile.
The parish priest is not sure about a bonding experience with the python, especially if it's draped around his neck...
